Product Discription
Low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polymerized with organic peroxide as initiator under high
pressure of 100~300 MPa, belongs to the first generation of
polyethylene. So it is also called high-pressure polyethylene. The
density of LDPE is generally in the range of 0.910~ 0.925g/cm3. The crystallinity of LDPE is about 5%~65%, and the melting point
of LDPE range from 105℃ to 125℃. It has good softness,
extensibility, transparency, electrical insulation, air
permeability, cold resistance and process-ability. Except those, it
also has good chemical stability, resistant to acid, alkali and
salt solution.
High density polyethylene (HDPE), produced by ethylene polymerization under low pressure using
Ziegler catalyst or metal oxide as catalyst, belongs to the second
generation of polyethylene. It is also called low pressure
polyethylene. Although it is polymerized by low pressure method,
the density of the product in the range of 0.941 ~ 0.965g/cm3 is relatively high. The crystallinity of HDPE is 80% ~ 90% and the
melting point range is 126 ~ 137 ℃. The product service temperature
can reach 100℃. The mechanical properties such as hardness, tensile
strength and denaturation resistance of HDPE are better than those
of LDPE, but the time abrasion resistance, electrical insulation,
toughness, cold resistance, aging resistance and environmental
stress cracking resistance of HDPE are not as good as those of
LDPE. High density polyethylene (HDPE) has low water absorption, low permeability to water vapor and
air, high crystallinity, warpage and poor impact resistance.
